About
The School
Supreme Driving Instruction is a small but successful driving school based in Watford.
Providing a calm, informative and safe environment for the school's students is a priority. Whether on the road, in the safe hands of a qualified ADI or using online learning resources to prepare for the theory and practical tests our aim is to develop each student into a knowledgeable and safe road user.
The Car
To prepare students for driving on the road in their own car Supreme Driving Instruction uses a small city car, the Toyota Aygo, for tuition.
The Aygo is built with safety in mind. Driver, passenger and side airbags and safety systems such as ESC (electronic stability control) come as standard. It achieved a 4 Star safety rating when tested by EuroNCAP.
The revised 1.0 litre engine produces a sufficient 69bhp, suitable for city driving and also practical at motorway speeds.
The Supreme Driving Instruction Aygo has also been converted to be duel-fuel ,running LPG (liquified petroleum gas) which burns cleaner than petrol and diesel.
The Aygo has a large central speedometer to simplify the dashboard. The model used by Supreme Driving Instruction also includes a tachometer (to help students learn appropriate use of the engine and gears) and large central media screen (which is used for the reversing camera).
The Instructor
Sam Philo, ADI, BSc
Having grown up and taught in Watford (and the surrounding areas), Sam has a good knowledge of the town and its surrounding suburbs.
This makes him ideal to get the best out of the lesson, be it selecting quiet roads for those beginning lessons or explaining challenging junctions that students might encounter while preparing for their test.
About himself:
"From a young age I was interested in mechanical transport whether it be bicycles, motorbikes, cars or aeroplanes. However that interest was more of a passion when it came to cars and driving"
"As I grew up I became renowned among friends for my abundance of patience and failure to grow angry when it would normally be expected"
"Throughout my life I have enjoyed many occasions to teach/assist friends/colleagues in various learning pursuits, from understanding math to playing music."
"It seems inevitable that this mix would lead me to teach driving."
